Jason Billie Selected as the new Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Palo Verde College
Blythe, CA - Palo Verde College's director of athletics, Ryan Copple, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Billie as the new head men's basketball coach.
"Coach Billie is a proven winner," stated Copple. "He possesses the qualities and intangibles we sought during our selection process. His winning track record as a high school player, collegiate student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach is impressive. Moreover, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to turn around athletic programs. We are excited for this new chapter of Palo Verde basketball under his leadership."
Coming from Milpitas, California, Billie brings a wealth of experience to the Blythe community. His four-year tenure as an assistant coach at West Valley College and his recent role as the head coach at Branham High School have shaped his coaching style. At West Valley College, he transformed the mindset of non-qualifiers en route to becoming the state's top-ranked community college, securing consecutive conference championships, NorCal championships, and a state championship appearance. Similarly, at Branham High School, he left a lasting legacy as the most successful coach in program history, earning the top public school ranking in the CIF Central Coast Section.
Billie shared, "I am incredibly humbled, blessed, and excited to be the next head men’s basketball coach at Palo Verde College. I would like to take this opportunity to thank President Dr. Bruce Moses and Athletic Director Ryan Copple for putting their trust in me and granting me this amazing opportunity to lead this program."
Billie's objective is to elevate the men's basketball program into the premier academic and athletic-minded institution in Southern California. He wants to create a culture of winning that consistently competes for conference championships and state recognition on a yearly basis.
“My coaching foundation has been developed by my exposure to successful basketball programs at every step of my journey. I am strongly committed to building a holistic program that leads to the successful development of our student-athletes in the classroom, on the basketball court, and as members of the community, " adds Billie. “Most importantly, I look to instill the ethos of hard work and integrity so our young men are prepared to succeed when the hardwood is behind them. Time to get to work! Go Pirates!”
